We are a church on a mission and we are ready to go! As Jesus ascended to heaven he commissioned his disciples with these words: “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth” (Acts 1:8). Chapel’s mission continues this mission of the early church.
There are always several mission and outreach events taking place at Chapel of the Cross. These take place here in St. Louis, across the U.S. and around the globe. Some of the ministries we do ourselves and many times we support existing organizations that do tremendous work on behalf of the Church.
But the joy of this mission is that the Holy Spirit leads us. Just as Jesus promised as he ascended to heaven, the Holy Spirit has been given to us so that we may be empowered to share God’s love and compassion to north county and beyond so that all may have a living relationship with Jesus, the Christ. Let’s go!
News and Announcements
In a joint venture with Grace Chapel, we began a new Sidewalk Ministry in the Spanish Lake and Bellefontaine neighborhoods. Sidewalk Ministry takes Sunday School to the community in a mid-week outdoor event in an apartment complex right where the children and their families live. It is a mission that pushes our church to venture into new places with the Gospel.
Chapel members have given generously in support of Eric and Linda Funke as missionaries in Tanzania. Through their work with Global Lutheran Outreach, Eric and Linda will be an extension of our ministry here at Chapel, imparting the love of Christ through compassionate service and teaching.
Chapel members sent 18 members to Sola Fe Lutheran Church in San Jose, Costa Rica. We have a close partnership in mission with Sola Fe and are excited about the many ways in which our lives have been touched by our brothers and sisters in Costa Rica. We had a fabulous experience. Our short-term mission trip included Vacation Bible School, electrical work in the church building, soccer games with the children and youth, worship, and several cross-cultural experiences and conversations.
